Plugging Along

Thursday, February 4, 2010

I'm still here, plugging along.  I'm down 2 pounds which isn't a lot since I didn't weigh in last week.

I am working on trying something new.  I've realized that I save a ton of recipes on my computer.  Things I want to try, low calorie, etc.  However, then I never end up making them.

So I am creating a binder.  The binder will have tabs for each meal.  Dinner, breakfast, snacks, etc.  Then I can have the printed recipe there along with the WW points and the % break down of fat, carbs, protein.  I plan on also breaking down the binder into tabs with High Protein recipes.

I think part of my weight loss problem is that although I might be eating fewer calories, I'm still not eating always the right calories.  As I look over the last few weeks I realize that I am still high % wise in the carbs area.  My goal would be to even that out to where I was on a Carbs 30% Protein 50% Fat 20% ratio.  Currently my carbs are in the 60% range most days.

I also want to get better about working out.  I'm struggling with getting to the gym lately and then when I do get there a phone call has been interrupting me.

I hope to make the rounds and visit everyone this weekend and check in on how everyone is doing.

I love the binder idea! I might have to steal that when I have a weekend to get organized like that.
The carb habit is my weakness too, I wish there was an easy way to break it.

that's a great idea! i have all these magazines with recipe pages dogeared and, like you, tons on my computer that i have the best of intentions...but never actually get around to trying them. printing them out and putting them in a binder is genius!

The binder is a great idea! Too bad I'm not organized enough to do that. I'm not organized enough to even diet. ;)

Congrats on the weight loss. :)

(I wanted to tell you that you sucked, since I can't seem to loose any weight recently. But, I'll be gracious, instead! Muah!)

Hi Laura,

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today & commenting...I'm here to return the favor. I think 2 lbs down is GREAT and you are being too hard on yourself.

A fellow blogger turned me onto this protein powder that I use to make smoothies every morning for breakfast. Which cut down my carbs A TON. I also put fruit in with the mix (you use skim milk as a base, then 2 scoops of the protein powder), so it's pretty tasty. Let me know if you're interested, I can tell you more about it. It comes in a big bag from Costco.

Thanks for the follow! I am now following you. Congrats on the 2 pounds, that is awesome. I made me a binder of recipes last week. I have been getting some great recipes from Sparkspeople.

That binder sounds like a good idea. With so many things in my life, finding a method that truly works for me is the biggest hurdle.

Congrats on 2lbs! Don't be down on yourself, weight loss is a very gradual thing, and you should be very proud of two pounds!

I'm always looking for low fat yummy recipes. I love to cook! My mother in law gave me this cookbook a few years ago, and there are lots of great things in it! We're from Louisiana, so alot of Holly's recipes are cajun/creole influences. You're sure to love it:)
