Tuesday was another successful day for me. I ate very light throughout the day since I knew I was making Chicken Parmigiana that evening. It's one of the family favorites. I kept my portion to 4 oz and even with the cheese on it I ended up at 435 calories including a small slice of garlic bread. However, it was so good I really, really, wanted another serving. Instead I washed my plate and grabbed a glass of green tea with a fresh lemon wedge to help stave off the craving.
This morning I tried something different for breakfast. I've realized I really need to eat a decent breakfast and if I do it helps me through the rest of the day. So this morning I had some oatmeal, with a bit of pumpkin, topped with a dash of cinnamon and a dash of brown sugar. I also poached an egg for some protein. It was actually very yummy & satisfying.
Second Helpings
Posted by Laura at 1/06/2010 11:08:00 AM Labels: Daily Journal Wednesday, January 6, 20101/2 cup quick cook oats
a spoonful of pumpkin
dash of cinnamon & dash of brown sugar
Combined equals a total calorie intake of 171 or 2 WW points
poached egg
The egg has 71 calories or 2 WW points
What this actually tells me is that the WW points are higher for the egg because of the fat grams, but the protein made that up for me. I'm sure as I go on I'll be able to be more creative and when I have more time I know that making an egg white omlet would be better off. I love that the pumpkin is so low in calories & fat!
Overall I like the breakfast and it's a decent start to my day.

5 words of encouragement:
Good for you! I had a good eat day yesterday too. It is really hard to have the second helping isn't it.
i've found that a good breakfast really helps me through the day, too. so i spend a lot of calories on breakfast...usually a 3 egg white omelette with 1 oz of cheese and 1 oz of ham. very yummy and satisfying.
That sounds yummy!!
good job! I also use a lot of calories on breakfast!
It's worth it, it makes me eat less if I am not getting hungry at 10 am.
I need to start eating breakfast, instead I starve myself until lunch and then probably eat more calories than I would if I had breakfast and lunch. That pumpkin oatmeal sounds good!
Thanks for the body measurment post too, I should try that (but I don't want to know what my waist is!)
